River Rescue is a DYNAMIC fast moving course specifically written and designed for professional river guides, private boaters and kayakers. Basic river skills are a prerequisite. Emphasis is on identifying hazards and on RESCUE; both of self and others. Thinking through rescues is also emphasized. This is the class you want as a boater to stay safe and know what to do if something goes wrong. Meets ALL agency Swiftwater Rescue Certification requirements for river guides and kayakers.
This dynamic course has been developed and designed from the ground up for river guides, fishing guides, private kayakers, whitewater rafters and other river users and enthusiasts who spend time in and around the water. Different from the Swiftwater Rescue Technician course, River Rescue approaches rescues from a boater's perspective rather than an agency perspective. We will practice with the type of equipment you typically have when you are boating and will focus on scenarios with limited man (or woman) power. Regardless of whether this is your first rescue class or if you have taken the course before, this course is suited for boaters of all kinds and all experience levels.
