Mad River Boat Trips offers daily whitewater trips on three types of rafts. You can even join us for dinner on the river when you select our famous Riverside Steak or Trout Cookout trip- prepared and served at our own riverside dining site, overlooking the two largest rapids on the river.
All Mad River whitewater river runs are U-Paddle trips and are accompanied by experienced, highly-trained river guides.

The 8-Mile Whitewater
Available May 19 - September 29
The classic whitewater experience down the Grand Canyon of the Snake River. It doesn't take all day, but you'll wish it did. This is the whitewater experience you've been waiting for - we guarantee it will be one you remember for a lifetime.
Later in the season we may substitute your larger raft for one of our small boats to give you a better ride. There are non-paddling positions in these boats for little ones and passengers unable to paddle.

There are about 8 sets of rapids, ranging from class I and II to class III. Various river features will be encountered, such as Lunchcounter and Big Kahuna rapids, Million Dollar Fishing Hole, Gauging Straights and Bailing Straights. Your guides will share information on the history of the area as well as teach you about the local flora and fauna.
The Snake River Canyon is rich in geological history and your guide will point out some of the features that make this canyon unique. You might see river otters, osprey and bald eagles on your trip. The lucky few might even catch a glimpse of a mountain goat, a mule deer, an elk or even a grizzly or black bear.

Dinner includes a 9oz. sirloin steak or trout, potato salad, pasta salad, garlic bread, corn on the cob, dutch oven cobbler and hot/cold beverages. You can only get there by raft, so let us show you the finest dining in Jackson Hole.

RAFT TRIP DETAILS: The magnificent Teton Range sets the stage for the first leg of your trip. This trip starts west of Jackson and winds its way south through braided river channels and sand bars of the Snake River. This 13-mile scenic stretch is home to an array of natural wonders unlike anywhere else on earth and the opportunity to view them all in one place is extremely rare. The final leg of your trip takes you through the famous Snake River Canyon, known for the dramatic scenery and wild whitewater. River running on the Snake River dates back to the 1800's and your guide will share the history as well as the geology and ecology that make the Snake River unique. Breakfast and lunch are included in this trip.
Launching from the Wilson Bridge Boat Ramp, you'll travel 13 miles south. You'll pause and enjoy a hot breakfast sandwich for brunch before finishing out the scenic section and returning to our boat house. A break back at the Mad River Boathouse lets you change into your whitewater apparel and put away binoculars and cameras not suited for your whitewater adventure.

MENU: You may bring your own lunch as lunch is not provided. Or, arrange for a deli box lunch to be waiting for you at Mad River upon your arrival. The cost is only $5 per person. RAFT TRIP DETAILS: There are no gunfights at the A-OK Corral, but they do offer cowboy fun for the entire family! Join them for a horseback ride through mountain trails just south of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. From the back of a horse view the majestic Gros Ventre Wilderness and breathtaking views of the Teton Mountain Range. While taking in the serenity of the famous Snake River and numerous wildflowers keep your eyes open for various wildlife in their natural habitat. Horses are well mannered, strong, and mountain wise. A person of any riding ability will have an enjoyable time.
Following your horseback trip, head to Mad River for your whitewater adventure. We have changing rooms and bathrooms available to you. Your valuables and extra gear can be stored at Mad River or can accompany you and be stored safely on the bus while you raft.
